Experimentation with sketches of 4 staircases resulting in the following scans:





After completing these sections I then went on to create 2 staircases in Google Sketchup which were heavily influenced by the first 3 concepts. Following the 3D modelling, I rendered them externally and after some post-processing in Adobe Lightroom, I was left with the following images:
